Romantic Vacations in California

With its beautiful oceanfront towns, sprawling vineyards, mountain villages, picturesque cities, gorgeous beaches and amazing sunsets, California has all of the makings for the perfect romantic getaway. Whether you are looking for a sun-filled weekend by the ocean or a cool break in the mountains, you are bound to find the perfect spot for you and your beloved in the Golden State.

Big Sur

Just 30 miles outside of Monterey, Big Sur offers you both an oceanfront view and redwood forests as a backdrop for your romantic getaway. Wildflowers are always in bloom here, Sea Otters are playfully frolicking in the ocean, and there are plenty of restaurants, gallery’s and gift shops to explore.

Napa Valley

Just outside of San Francisco sits this famed wine region. With nearly 400 wineries, Michelin-star restaurants, art galleries, restaurants, and bed-and- breakfast inns, there are seemingly endless possibilities here. Here you and your sweetheart can a walking tour, hot air balloon ride, grab a bottle of wine, a comfortable blanket, and enjoy a glass of wine together while taking in a California sunset.

Catalina

Catalina Island is located 26 miles off the coast of Los Angeles. Here you and your partner will find a laid-back island atmosphere, filled with amazing bed-and-breakfasts, art galleries, spas, and waterfront dining opportunities. The island is full of breathtaking vistas and adventures both on land and water.

Big Bear Lake

100 miles northeast of Los Angeles, in the middle of the San Bernardino Mountains, is the resort town of Big Bear Lake. The quote on the homepage of the town’s tourism site says it best “When you are 7,000 feet closer to the sun, the stress just melts away.” Here you and your honey can hike through the wilderness, Kayak on the local lakes, dine at one of the many restaurants that looks out over the Big Bear Lake’s 22 miles of majestic shoreline, and head out for an outdoor adventure with an off-roading tour. At the end of the day, relax and enjoy a romantic sunset in one of the many cabins or hotels that surround the area.
